SUMMARY:Jazz Age Book Club: The Great Gatsby
DESCRIPTION:The Phoenix Art Deco Society is excited to welcome members to the inaugural Jazz Age Book Club hosted by Art Deco Society member\, Professor Scott Hermanson. \nIf you love literature\, this event is for you! We are celebrating the 100th anniversary of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby with a guided discussion about the novel. Bring your thoughts\, opinions\, and questions\, and connect with fellow members – avid or casual readers are welcome. \nHow to participate in the Jazz Age Book Club\, hosted at MacAlpine’s Soda Fountain: \n\nReserve your spot for $5.00. This deposit goes towards your ice cream or food order at MacAlpine’s.\nRead The Great Gatsby in its entirety\nVisit us at MacAlpine’s Soda Fountain on August 17th at 3pm\nOrder a classic ice cream soda\, sundae\, phosphate\, or more from their vintage menu. A limited food menu will be available for those wanting a bite to eat.\nTalk about the book\, ask questions\, and share your thoughts on one of the greatest novels of all time.\n\nLooking for a copy of The Great Gatsby? We want to ensure that everyone can comfortably participate in the discussion. \n  \n \nAbout MacAlpine’s Soda Fountain (1929): \nMacAlpine’s Diner & Soda Fountain first opened in 1929 and is one of the few remaining soda fountains in the United States. If these stools could talk\, they would tell tales about how hard the young newspaper boy worked to earn 10 cents for an old-fashioned malt and of the many & regulars that purchased their Burma-Shave or Prince Albert (in a can) here. Now\, MacAlpine’s remains the community’s favorite neighborhood joint\, still serving up classic favorites like cherry phosphates and egg creams from behind their original soda fountain. Right next door is MacAlpine’s Retro Store\, where one can find everything from antique furniture to vintage clothing. This staple of the Phoenix area invites customers old and new to step back in time and stay for a while at this historic establishment. \n  \n  \nTICKETS ARE SOLD OUT \n  \nNot a member yet?
